The legacy campaign actually made me care about the heroes, which I didn't see coming from a deckbuilder. Playing through the greed and corruption storyline with my usual group took us a solid month of sessions, and nobody wanted to skip a week.

I didn't expect a card game expansion to actually make me care about the characters, but the hero selection changes how the whole campaign plays out. The corruption and tragedy beats hit harder when it's your hero making those choices.
